As a warm-up, here are some random facts about the city of Las Vegas.
1. The city of Las Vegas is more than 100 years old! Las Vegas celebrated its 100th birthday on May 15, 2005.
2. 60,000 people move to Las Vegas every year.
3. Cost of living? You can rent an apartment in Las Vegas for $630 a month.
4. An acre of land on the Las Vegas Strip costs about 30 million dollars.
5. The state of Nevada charges no personal income tax or corporate income tax. 8 other states in the US, viz. Alaska, Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming, do not charge state income tax.
6. Nevada is the largest producer of gold in the US and the 2nd largest in the world (first being South Africa.)
7. Contrary to popular belief, prostitution is NOT legal in Las Vegas.
8. You can hang your neighbor if he/she shoots your dog. Provided your dog was in your own yard, the law of Nevada can hang your neighbor for killing your dog. (I wonder how that law was passed... I love Nevada for it though; I love dogs!)
