A. At a Glance

Turtle Bay Beach is a natural tourism object is very well known in Cilacap regency, Central Java Province. Tourism object has an area of 18 hectares of beautiful natural panorama. Its existence is also supported by historical sights Pendem Castle, and reclaiming the island which is located not far from the location of this beach. Pendem fortress of defense is the former headquarters of Dutch soldiers are located about 0.5 km south of Turtle Bay Beach attractions and overlooking the strait Nusakambangan.

According to local story, in ancient times many turtles, turtles that live and breed in this beach. Therefore, the environmental conditions are not too hot, making it suitable for turtle-turtle to breed. B. Feature

Turtle Bay Beach has beautiful scenery, cool weather, and the vast expanse of sand. In addition, visitors can also see fishing boats milling around, the neat rows of palm trees, as well as oil refineries owned by Pertamina, the towering and majestic look. For visitors who love to fish, there are boat rentals that can take tourists into the sea.

As well as the beautiful natural panorama, Turtle Bay Beach is also famous for its maritime tradition of alms, which is an annual ritual held annually on 1 Shura by local fishermen. The essence of these rituals is melarungkan buffalo heads and other offerings into the sea. Before dilarung, head of the buffalo and the offerings are placed at a place called jolang. After dilarung then the fishermen take the sea water around it for the beauty jolang face. Smears of sea water was believed to bring blessing. The tradition of alms sea is an expression of gratitude to God for sustenance and protection of safety at sea. This tradition is also as a form of tribute to the Queen of the South Coast, Nyai Roro Kidul.

D. Access

To reach Turtle Bay Beach attractions, visitors can begin the journey from the Terminal Cilacap. From this terminal, visitors can ride the bus or the public transportation that has access to the site. Travel from Terminal Cilacap to the location is usually taken within approximately 12 minutes, because the distance of the terminal until the coast is only about 5 km. However, if visitors start the journey of Cilacap city center by taxi or rental car, it only takes about 5 minutes because of the distance to the beach town center is only about 2 km.

E. Ticket Prices

Visitors who want to enjoy the natural scenery at the Turtle Bay Beach fee of Rp 2,500 (September 2008). However, if a visitor wants to lure out to sea, there are fishing boats rental rates ranging from Rp 70,000-Rp 100,000 (September 2008), depends on how long it takes.

For visitors who want to bring souvenirs of marine fish to be cooked at home, there were special stalls selling fish, either dried or salted fish, fresh fish ready to be cooked. Not far from Turtle Bay Beach attractions there is also an inn run by residents
