Sundak Beach

A. Brief Information
Once upon a time, there was a fierce combat between a dog and a porcupine in a place that is now known as Sundak Beach. The dog preyed on the porcupine because of heavy starvation. When the dog`s owner watched the combat, then he named the place Sundak Beach. The word “sundak” is derived from two Javanese words; “asu,” that means dog, and “landak,” for porcupine.

Ever since, the location began to be known by the broader public. Now, Sundak Beach is a worth visiting tourism destination either for foreign or domestic tourists. The location is now under the management of the Sidoarjo people in the district of Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta Province.

B. Distinctive Features
The beautifully magnificent scenery of Sundak Beach is not a debatable anymore. All people who have ever visited the beach argue that the beach`s white sand scattering over the seaside is one of the distinctive features. Furthermore, its turquoise water is awesome. Having some activities above the white sand and shallow water around the coast will be an unforgettable moment for everyone visiting Sundak Beach.

Looking from afar, a cluster of coral reefs and lime stones is 12 meters north of the coast. That is the best panoramic background for those who want to take photographs. A cave spouting pure water is found on a hill; thus many people go to the cave for some waters.

As well as Sanur Beach on Bali Island that is famous as the best place for enjoying both sunset and sunrise, Sundak Beach is the right place to watch the beautiful sunset and sunrise from Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia.
